🌎My First Final Interview with a US Company: What I Learned (Even When It Wasn’t Perfect)

It started with a LinkedIn notification.

A few weeks ago, I did something I’d never done before. I interviewed for a remote role with a US-based company.

The first interview was with HR. I still remember how kind he was, how I smiled after the call thinking, May be this isn’t as scary as I thought. I got through.

Then came the interview with the CEO. I prepared for days, rehearsed my pitch, and when we finally spoke I stumbled, but I also shared ideas I believed in. He listened. That meant a lot.

Finally, I made it to the last stage — the client interview.

HR told me the day before and gave me the heads-up topic to talk about in the interview, I studied about it and woke up around at 4am to practice. The interview started early morning at 9 am, and I felt nervous but also a bit confident. I prayed to God for a calm heart and wished I could answer the questions well.

This part didn’t go as smoothly. I felt I could’ve answered better — maybe more structured, maybe more confident. It was one of those moments where you replay your words after the call ends, thinking, “I wish I had said this instead…” I kept thinking afterward: I could’ve done better.

But here’s what I learned:

🌿I can show up for myself, even when I’m unsure and nervous.

🌿I can grow from interviews, not just wait for the outcome.

🌿I’m no longer afraid of global opportunities. I’m ready to try again.

Maybe one day, I’ll get that offer. But today, I’m celebrating the courage it took to show up.

To anyone out there feeling intimidated by cross-border interviews: GO FOR IT.

You’ll learn more than you expect — especially about yourself.
